Original, signed 12x12 collage framed and wired to hang our your wall.
I manipulate images to disturb and inspire. I focus on the female body and its histories. As a queer female I live in my own stories and use my body to express wordless feelings. My process is visceral with cutting, tearing, jabbing, burning, and ritualistic actions. I begin with cutting images and shapes from magazines and then experiment with various compositions until I feel the elements speaking to me. From there I create an aura of gestural markings and pigment followed by perfume. I burn pieces of the perfect images and allow the ashes to crumble into acrylic medium, holding the pieces down. I contrast roughness with traditional disciplines such as painting and paying close attention to lines. These visual signals are an homage to the conflict of staying poised while feeling a fire inside. My work makes references to resilience of female bodied people through my art making process and aim to inspire others to connect from their emotional and physical bodies.
